Climate

Sunshine beaches, shorts, and t-shirts year round sounds like great weather right? Think again just because the Philippines is sunny, it doesn’t mean the climate is perfect. In this report you’ll learn what tropical weather can bring and how islands may not sound as great to live on as you think.

The rainy season of the Philippines (FYI: three seasons a year) brings an average of over twenty typhoons a year. If you think that’s bad I’m just warming up imagine this: eighty degree farenheit weather, a sunshine beach, topped off with a pina colada, then BOOM! A volcano erupts without warning, so much for that vacation. Study’s show that since 2007 volcanic activity has increased. Buluscan  and Kanloan are two active volcanoes in the Philippines, Kanloan is located in Bindoy Negros Oriental Province.  This is where Rosemary (our entrepenuer) lives. The more eruptions that occur, the larger chance of having to start a business all over again.

The average temperature of the Philippines is about seventy-eight degrees farenheit to ninety degrees farenheit. This is wonderful weather, perfect for raising a pig farm all year. This will help with the growth of the piglets, which will make a better chance of rosemary paying back the loan. The three seasons I mentioned in the second paragraph are the rainy season (so kind of like Spring), a cool dry season (kind of like fall), and a hot season (like our Summer). The rainy season which lasts from June to September brings the terrible typhoons I mentioned earlier. October to February brings cold winds. This season doesn’t really bring natural disasters. Lastly the final season which lasts from March to May, this season is like our summer. Though I wouldn’t suggest kicking back to relax if you’re a kid. At this time of year school’s out, but that doesn’t mean your family couldn’t use the help. Most Philippine families are poor so the more help the better. Not to mention the chance of a volcano eruption and typhoons. Causing more reconstruction (Ugh! Not again) and more money being used for repairs. Meaning less money for essentials like food, clothing, and tools.
